Seminar: Why Research on (Mathematics) Teachers’ Knowledge Needs New Direction

Recent research on mathematics teachers’ knowledge is determined by several trends that have defined the conceptualisation of the knowledge base for teaching over the last quarter century.

Thorsten Scheiner’s (University of Hamburg, Germany) presentation onWhy Research on (Mathematics) Teachers’ Knowledge Needs New Direction intends to move beyond historical traditions and recent tendencies in theorising and conceptualising teachers’ knowledge, by providing new avenues for theoretical reflection in order to paint a bigger picture of and provide deeper insights into teachers’ knowledge.
