UWC Ladies Football Club will have its aptitude tested when the team hosts reigning champions of the South African Football Association Western Cape Sasol Women’s League, Cape Town Roses, in a top-of-the-table clash at home on Sunday 16 June 2013. The game starts at UWC Sports Stadium at 15h00, and has all the ingredients of becoming a first-class encounter. Both sides boast players from the senior women’s national team, Banyana Banyana, and both teams are strong contenders for this year’s league title, along with Spurs Ladies. According to the log standings, Roses are leading the pack with 37 points while the home side is in third position, seven points behind Roses and three points shy of Spurs, with two games in hand.UWC Ladies coach Nathan Peskin believes the Sunday game will have a big impact in deciding this year’s Sasol League. “The league has turned out to be a three-horse race between UWC Ladies, Roses and Spurs,” he says. “So the outcome of this match will surely have a big say in where the league is going.” UWC Ladies strengthened its squad this year, and have a chance of achieving their goal of winning all the competitions they are participating in this year ? the Sasol League, the University Sports South Africa (USSA) Western Cape Women’s League and the Safa Cape Town-organised Coca-Cola Cup.
