The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) Centre for the Performing Arts (CPA) invites everyone to the Cape Town Brass Quintet for an evening of popular Classics, Light Jazz and Pop on April 21, 2013.
The evening will feature a performance from David Thompson, Paul Chandler (trumpets); Caroline van Renen (French horn) Slavomir Mrazik (trombone) and Shaun Williams (tuba) a quintet of professional players with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO). The quintet has performed a variety of concerts at schools, churches and outdoor venues as well as numerous corporate functions. In July 2013 the UWC CPA plans to expand their brass programme to include brass musicians from community music projects such as Christmas Bands and in August they plan to launch the UWC Chamber Music Institute. The concert will serve as a way for prospective students to experience a professional quartet performance so they can understand what can be achieved with hard work and dedication. It will also serve as an evening of good music where people can come, relax and have a good time.
