UWC VS TUT
The University of the Western Cape rugby team (FNB UWC) will host the Tshwane University of Technology (FNB TUT) in a Varsity Shield game at 7pm on Monday, 3 February 2014 at the UWC Sports Stadium.
Following FNB UWC’s success in Alice where they beat FNB UFH 26-8, FNB UWC have not made any major changes to their squad. Njabulo Ndlovu was given the number 8 jersey from right flank, and Jose Julies is to assume the right flank position for the game against TUT. William Scott will take the number 5 jersey at right lock, while tight head prop will now be Kelvin De Bruyn, with Brandon Beukman number 1 at loose head prop.
With the five universities in the competition vying for promotion to the premier Varsity Cup competition, the game promises to be tough and explosive, and one through which the home side will seek to extend its lead in the log standings, following their 26-8 triumph at the University of Fort Hare last Monday.
UWC students, staff, friends and the community at large are encouraged to come and support the local boys.
Tickets are R10 for students, scholars and staff, and R20 for non-students. Supporters can take advantage of a package on offer at the Campus Store for R250, which includes season tickets for all home games, a UWC string bag, slippers, cap and a T-shirt, among other goodies.
