The BBC has highlighted The Herds, an innovative climate awareness initiative featuring life-sized animal puppets journeying from the Congo Basin to the Arctic Circle.
The puppets were designed by Ukwanda Puppets & Design Arts Collective, a resident arts collective supported by the University of the Western Cape’s Centre for Humanities Research (CHR), based at the Iyatsiba Lab in Cape Town.
This project builds on the success of The Walk with Little Amal and embodies how art and performance can illuminate environmental crises on a global stage. The BBC feature delves into this creative intervention and its driving message of ecological urgency.
