The Office for Student Development Careers Service offers UWC students a range of services for their career development and job search. In 2014, UWC Careers Service was rated the 2nd “Best Careers Service” and 3rd “Best Careers Fair” among universities in South Africa according to the South African Graduate Employers Association. Here are five fast facts about us:
1.Career preparation and opportunities
We organise and host career opportunities for students, such as:
Company presentations, showcases and promotions
Mock interviews with feedback about your performance
Careers Xpo to interact and network with more than90 leading South African recruiters and UWC alumni, and enquire about career opportunities, company culture and internships
Job search skills workshops for tips on staying motivated during your job search, preparing your winning CV and Letter of Motivation, personal branding, using social media and much more
Advertisements about graduate trainee posts, internships and part-time work
2.Career Advising
Our staff advise and coach students about their career plans, CV, Letter of Motivation and job search.
3. Interview Preparation
If you have an interview lined up, visit us for tips on what to wear, say and do at your interview.
4. Resource Centre
Use our Resource Centre to type your CV and job search documents, upload your applications and search for career opportunities.
5. Career Update Magazine
Our reader-friendly Career Update Magazine informs students about their career development and job search. If you have strong writing skills, contact us to write an article in the next magazine.
Careers Service also circulates job advertisements regularly via UWC Communication emails and the online Thetha Noticeboards, so be sure to check these platforms regularly!
