UWC’s Entrepreneur Spring School: Innovative Learning for Innovative Earning
The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC’s) Division for Postgraduate Studies and the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation offered their first-ever Entrepreneur Spring School in August 2016 - specifically designed for postgraduate students who were keen to pursue a business idea, all while completing their studies.
The Entrepreneur Spring School campaign is a UWC postgrad student-focused entrepreneur workshop, aimed at developing academics in the field of entrepreneurship. It gave students the chance to explore various ideas and concepts that will take their business ideas and established businesses to the next level, combining practical experience with teaching new thinking and creating entrepreneurial success.
Christoff Oosthuysen, a leading entrepreneurial planning thinker and expert, led the discussion and provided the students with a few tips. The longtime entrepreneur, coach and bootcamp trainer - with more than 20 years experience in starting his own businesses and in supporting other entrepreneurs - focused on helping students identify and increase ‘flow experiences’ in the workplace.
The Entrepreneur Spring School helped the budding entrepreneurial students identify entrepreneurship opportunities, and give them the necessary skills and tools to start and grow a business.
One of those budding entrepreneurs, Bongekile Octavia, who is doing her Bachelors in Administration, said she learned a lot from the seminar - and she’s excited to apply some of that learning in her business.
“I have gained a lot of mind-blowing and useful information,” she said. “I am grateful for this opportunity in my life, and I am ready to take this further.”
