It was a moment of pride and joy as administration and academic staff from CHS were amongst those who received the prestigious “Long Service Awards” on 28 November 2023 at Jakes Gerwell Hall at UWC main campus, Robert Sobukwe Road. A total of 167 dedicated staff members at UWC received their “Long Service awards”.
The awards are the custodian of the UWC Rector Professor Tyrone Pretorius held annually to recognize and honour those staff members (academic and non-academic) for their continued dedication, commitment and loyalty to UWC brand over the years and experience it evolved to what it stands for in the 21st century. The collective service spans an impressive range, from 10 years to a remarkable 40 years!
In announcing the awards to entire UWC campus community, rector said “Congratulations on this significant milestone in your career at UWC. We are proud to have you on our team and look forward to many more years of continued success together. We are truly grateful for your service and the positive impact you've made on the lives of our students and the entire UWC community”.

The professional journey of these colleagues has been very interesting and one of dedication, starting off at junior level and climbing up the corporate ladder at UWC bit by bit, some now are academics transferring their skills and knowledge to the new cohort of UWC student every year.
Some of the colleagues started off as students and now are employed by University of the Western Cape. On behalf of the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences, we congratulate them and wish the best and growth in the next coming years as they continue to be committed to the UWC brand steering and fostering learning, innovation, and growth.
