The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has welcomed 30 international study abroad semester students from partner universities to its campus. The students, from the USA, France and Germany, attended a three-day orientation programme.
The students are being hosted by the University’s International Relations Office and were officially welcomed by Registrar, Dr Nita Lawton-Misra.
While the majority of the students are registered in the Arts Faculty as undergraduates, they have the opportunity to choose modules across all seven faculties to complement their learning agreement and approved course selection from their home university.
Umesh Bawa, Director of the International Relations Office, echoed the welcome and gave a brief history of the institution. The welcome and orientation programme included presentations by several on campus departments and organisations, including the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the International Student Organisation (ISO).
The diverse group of students are from several partner universities including Marquette University, Kentucky University, Arcadia University, the University Illinois, Sciences Po, Neu-Ulm, Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz University and Humboldt University.
