The University of the Western Cape (UWC) will be represented at this year’s DREAM 2023 conference.

It’s the ninth year in which a South African delegation will be attending Achieve the Dream (ATD). DREAM 2023 is ATD’s 19th annual convening and will take place from 13 to 17 February 2023 in Chicago, USA.

Professor Subethra Pather, Ms Elizabeth Booi and Dr Vanessa Brown, together with the Registrar, Dr Nita Lawton-Misra will make up the UWC delegation to Dream 2023.

According to ATD, the event is “where student-centered peers explore college transformation as a catalyst for equity and economic vitality”.

The Dream 2023 conference programme will offer a rich experience that includes plenary sessions with critically acclaimed authors, scholars, educators, and activists; breakout sessions with higher education thought-leaders and practitioners; and opportunities for peer learning with network colleges; and virtual exhibitions.
 
Prof Pather will be one of the speakers on a panel with international contributors from New Zealand and the United States to engage in the topic of Acting with Urgency and Purpose: Adapting Lessons from New Zealand, South Africa, and the United States. 

Prof Pather will share with delegates at the conference how UWC has gained participation in ICAT (Institutional Capacity Assessment Tool) and is using the results to guide decisions about its student success work.
