Science Voices: Share YOUR research with the world
Science is an endlessly fascinating subject – there is always something new being discovered, some old ideas being discarded, and some amazing research being done. If you're a postgrad science student at UWC, you already know that. You're probably part of that. Well, here's your chance to tell the rest of the world all about it – the Mail & Guardian wants to help you get your research in front of a popular audience.
From astrophysics to hydrology, and psychology to zoology, the M&G wants it all for their Science Voices project. All they need is an 800-1000 word popular article on topics related to your research, to be submitted by midnight on Sunday 1 June 2014.
Select stories will appear on the M&G website – and the most fascinating articles may be included in a collection of South Africa's best postgraduate science writing. Successful applicants will be informed by the end of June.
Don't have a popular write-up of your research handy? Not a problem. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with M&G Science Editor (and award-winning science writer) Sarah Wild, who will provide helpful hints on how to present your research to non-scientists – beginning with a series of vodcasts on the Mail & Guardian website (check out the first one here).
