The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is proud to announce that its Director of Risk and Compliance, Mr Bentley Ebrahim Jeftha, has been elected Deputy President of the Campus Protection Society of Southern Africa (CAMPROSA) Executive Committee for the 2025–2028 term.

The announcement was made during CAMPROSA’s Tri-Annual General Meeting, held on 8 October 2025 as part of its Annual Conference in George. CAMPROSA, now in its 31st year, is a professional body representing 22 of the 26 major institutions of higher learning in Southern Africa, with 60 members, including 24 South African universities and four from neighbouring countries.

Mr Jeftha’s election is a recognition of his longstanding contribution to campus safety and strategic risk management. With more than six years of service on CAMPROSA’s leadership, he has consistently provided valuable input to the sector. His broader portfolio includes serving on the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) Board and the Department of Higher Education and Training & South African Police Services Committee, where he contributes to the development of a national blueprint for university security.

“I am honoured that my colleagues have placed their trust in me for another term - and this time as Deputy President,” said Jeftha. “This election gives me the opportunity to make a valuable contribution towards risk management within higher education, and ultimately to enhance the student experience for all learners.”

For UWC, Mr Jeftha’s appointment reflects the University’s commitment to ethical and transformational leadership. 

“This also shows the faith that other universities have in UWC’s ethos and position in society,” he added.

Looking ahead, Mr Jeftha said he is committed to helping CAMPROSA expand its footprint across Africa and globally. 

“We plan to build on the foundation laid by our predecessors and enhance our reach through strategic partnerships, engagement with government and legislative structures, and the adoption of best practices within the higher education sphere.”

Mr Jeftha said his election marks a significant moment for UWC and the broader sector – affirming the importance of collaborative leadership in shaping safe, inclusive and resilient learning environments.
