The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Robert Balfour, led a senior delegation to China to strengthen strategic partnerships, advance academic collaboration and deepen UWC’s global engagement. Over three days, the delegation participated in the 2025 World Chinese Language Conference, visited leading national research institutions, and engaged with key university partners to explore opportunities in language education, traditional Chinese medicine, digital innovation and joint research. The visit underscored UWC’s commitment to internationalisation, knowledge exchange and building impactful global networks.
