The University of the Western Cape is welcoming new first-year students as they begin their academic journey. Orientation Week started on Monday, 3 February 2025, with an official welcome by the Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Balfour, executives and faculty deans in the Jakes Gerwel Hall.
A series of activities will take place throughout the week. The programme includes guided campus tours, interactive edutainment sessions, and opportunities for students to familiarise themselves with university life. Peer facilitators will assist students in navigating campus resources and building support networks. Attendance is compulsory for all new full-time undergraduate students, with activities running until Friday, 7 February 2025.
Faculty orientation booths will be available throughout the week to provide guidance and support to students who miss the first day.
