The University of the Western Cape proudly welcomes new Alumni Relations Manager, Mr Niven Maree.
Mr Maree has been involved in stakeholder relations in higher education for 15 years.
He has held the position of Alumni Relations Manager at the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business, and served as a senior fundraiser at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the University of Cape Town (main campus) respectively.
These roles involved strategic communication management, client/alumni liaison and extensive project management.
Now he is ready “to find out what makes UWC alumni tick”. The beauty of this, he says, is that no one UWC stakeholder group is the same. “Alumni is not a homogenous group. UWC’s alumni community has differing needs and expectations, and they require a different approach.”
His vision is to ensure that UWC’s strategy and relationship management remain relevant.
“My hope is to build on the foundation laid by my predecessors, and to develop a deeper understanding of our stakeholders in order to provide a better service to them.”
"The best part about my work, is that every interaction with Alumni is a highlight. Also, it is a privilege to be associated with UWC. It is an honour, and I want people to know that I am here to serve them.”
