UWC’s 7s Rugby Team Visits France

For the first time in UWC history, the University’s Rugby 7s team will participate in an international tournament when they travel to France to play in the Centrale 7s tournament this month.

Described by many as a “student world cup”, the tournament will give the University team an opportunity to compete with some of the top university teams in Europe. The Centrale 7 is an international university rugby 7s tournament taking place on the campus of the Ecole Centrale Paris, an engineer school located near Paris, on 20 and 21 May 2015.

According to the competition’s website, since the tournament started 10 years ago it has evolved into one of the greatest European rugby tournaments for universities, with 20 teams of men and women from four continents competing for different trophies: cup, plate and bowl.

The UWC rugby team has been training hard to prepare for the event, and departed for France on Sunday, 17 May 2015.
