It gives me great pleasure to announce that Mr Raymond Crown, the University of the Western Cape’s Director for Information and Communication Services, has been appointed to the Ministerial Advisory Committee on the stabilisation and efficient functioning of the Water Sector.
Mr Crown will serve as a member of the Advisory Committee after being appointed by Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, in October 2019. The primary focus of the advisory committee is to assist with addressing operational and effectiveness challenges within the Water and Sanitation Department.
It is a real honour to have been called to serve by the Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation and to be given the opportunity to give back through the application of my experiences. My global exposure to enterprise technology delivery, having delivered successful projects across industries working in Europe, the Middle East and most of Africa has been a key contributor to my selection to the Advisory Committee,” Mr Crown said of his appointment.
“Working at the University of the Western Cape, the real societal need in terms of essential services is amplified through the exposure to students that come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The ability to assist in alleviating some of these needs through supporting the effective application of technology within the department is both exciting and daunting at the same time.”
Mr Crown’s appointment is as an IT specialist. The committee of 12 also consists of legal, labour, finance and construction specialists.
Congratulations to Mr Crown on his appointment and we wish him all the success in the role. His appointment is a testament to the leadership capacity at the University.
