The Young Alumni Virtual Series sessions, with the sole aim of assisting our young alumni in navigating the difficult terrain of attaining career clarity and success after graduation, comes at a time of a global market shift.
The COVID-19 pandemic has not just altered the way we work; it has also altered the value of oneself in a work environment. This sudden change has left many of our recent graduates scrambling whilst trying to fit into and adapt to the new normal.
The most recent session in this series focused on career guidance and understanding oneself through the process. Important topics such as effective job search strategy, career planning and navigating the different terrains of career success were discussed at length.
One of the main take-aways from the session was understanding oneself and the concept of ‘PROJECT YOU’ - understanding our mental and physical awareness in the current situation. Your brand and understanding where you fit in in the current global order remain pertinent aspects of finding your niche within the workforce.
In getting to know yourself and your personality traits - with regards to quotients and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) testing - you have a better understanding of what a future employer looks for in candidates, which will assist you with answering the harder questions like, “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”, and what about your personal brand is of value to a prospective employer.
The session was lauded by attendees as being of significant value. If you would like to learn more about this topic, click here to view the video recording of the session.
