Leaving for Kazakhstan tomorrow, 28 September, the University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) Enactus team, who are currently the national social student entrepreneurship champions, will be representing South Africa at the Enactus World Cup 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan, in October.
Prepping is everything, and with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity it wasn't any different.
Leading up to this moment, the student team have dedicated their weekends, long weekends and holidays in preparation for this major international entrepreneurial competition by attending obligatory photo sessions, gruelling rehearsal and coaching sessions, and meetings with big company directors.
All of this, to help improve their presentation skills which will be an important deciding factor in the competition.
The competition is dedicated to showcasing innovation and social impact, and the team will be introducing their local projects: Leno-Kids, a gamified English learning Whatsapp Chatbot platform that offers interactive classes, and WebMax, a project aimed at tackling youth unemployment by providing digital skills training and promoting freelancing opportunities, addressing youth unemployment alongside businesses facing difficulties with a strong online presence.
