The LuMana languages are at the periphery of the Northern and North-East part of Zambia whose ancestor language is believed to be the Fipa in Southern Tanzania (cf. Nurse and Philippson, 1999). The LuMana languages are not among the seven recognized regional official languages (henceforth, ROL) in Zambia because they do not have an established orthography (cf. Banda, 1996; Nkolola, 2013; Siame and Banda, 2021). This is also the case for LuMana languages in Tanzania where they are also spoken and are dominated mainly by Kiswahili and English. Therefore, this book is an attempt to propose a short grammar and common standard orthography that should be used by LuMana speakers in areas that include education, national planning, political, religious, and academic purposes, not only in Zambia but also in Tanzania.
