The aim of this monograph is to educate the reader on the problem of domestic violence, which is common among married couples, lovers, parents and their children. Sometimes it also occurs between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. The monograph brings out the traditional Shona wisdom, which states that families are built through dialogue and not violence. It highlights the fact that violence is destructive. What it breeds is the quest for revenge, which frequently leads to serious physical and emotional injury, or even death. The monograph encourages those who find themselves entangled in situations that may lead to domestic violence to take practical steps to minimise the likelihood of harm and suffering by seeking the early intervention and assistance of relatives, friends or community and church elders, or even seeking recourse to the law.
