This monograph aims to share knowledge and impart information on malaria. It advises on what should be done when one suspects or is suspected to be suffering from malaria. It also teaches the reader preventive steps to be taken to combat the disease. The booklet does this by suggesting that the reader uses both the traditional and modern preventive methods. Among these methods is the use of cow dung (traditional) and treated mosquito nets (modern). It also corrects some misconceptions that are there among most people about malaria, such as the belief that malaria can be contracted from eating certain fruits, or the belief that drinking spirits can treat it. The monograph also distinguishes between anopheles and culex mosquitoes through the use of tables and pictures which show the differences between the two types of mosquitoes from their breeding places to hatching, as well as to their postures when they are resting. The writer believes and hopes that the knowledge she has imparted empowers the readers on how to handle malaria victims and to be on guard when they are in malaria-infested areas or intend to visit them.
