On 22 November 2024, the University of the Western Cape's Human Resources Department hosted a transformative event, “Dinner in the Dark,” to promote disability awareness and inclusivity. This immersive experience, held at the School of Public Health, allowed attendees to dine in complete darkness, simulating the challenges visually impaired individuals face. |

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) co-hosts the Critical Food Studies (CFS) programme with the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the University of Pretoria. The Andrew Mellon Foundation has funded it for the past six years. |
