On Mandela Day, 18 July 2025, the city of Gqeberha became the latest stop in the University of the Western Cape’s national alumni roadshow. An initiative led by Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Balfour, to reconnect graduates with their alma mater and inspire a renewed culture of giving, service and pride. |

Inspiring The Next Generation Of Graduates
The University of the Western Cape’s Ubuntu Peace Programme (UPP) was officially launched in 2023 to encourage students to make a meaningful impact in communities. Participants attend workshops focusing on life skills, including how to launch community projects that positively impact society. At a workshop on 8 March 2025, Sibusiso Hlongwane was motivated and later supported by CSSS to return to his hometown of Lawley and alma mater to inspire high school learners.
