Mother And Daughter Graduate Together

Having a supportive family member cheering for you in the audience at graduation is very special. However, one mom-and-daughter duo will be supporting each other side by side when they get capped today in the historic Jakes Gerwel Hall. Yolanda and Rouelle Maarman will graduate from the University of the Western Cape (UWC). For Yolanda, this marks the completion of her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management, 27 years after earning her BEd Honours degree.

Facts And Fabulations: CHR Exhibition Explores How Archives Shape What We Know

The Centre for Humanities Research (CHR) at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) will open a new exhibition, Facts and Fabulations, at its Iyatsiba Lab gallery in Woodstock on Thursday, 9 April 2026. The exhibition forms part of the New Archival Visions Programme and draws extensively on materials from the UWC–Robben Island Museum–Mayibuye Archives.
 
 
 
 
UWC Postgraduate Selected Among World’s Top Five Fellows In Global Ideas Programme

University of the Western Cape (UWC) master’s student Cherish Vundisa has been selected as one of only five fellows worldwide for the Harrison Middleton University Fellowship in Ideas - an elite international programme hosted by Arizona-based university in the United States.
