Angola’s untold history: archive project explores LGBTIQ+ lives and struggles

For lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) people everywhere, there has commonly been a profound connection between remembrance and mourning. It’s not a coincidence, for example, that queer archives flourished in the 1980s and 1990s at a time when the HIV epidemic brought with it the lived experience of loss.
 
 
 
Professor Dudley Shallcross Honoured with OBE for Contributions to Science Education

Professor Dudley E. Shallcross, a prominent figure in the realm of chemical education, has been awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the King’s birthday honours of 2024. This accolade celebrates his extensive contributions to science education both in the UK and globally. Since 1999, Prof Shallcross has served as an academic at the School of Chemistry at Bristol University.
 
Historical Memoir of 1976 Student Protests Launched at UWC

It was a well-attended and celebratory unofficial class reunion at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) at the book launch of the late Dr Enrico G Pedro’s now-completed memoir of the pivotal 1976 uprising.
