UWC Transforms Its Identity: From ‘Bushies’ to ‘Caracals’

For decades, members of the University of the Western Cape (UWC) community, particularly those involved in sports, have colloquially been referred to as “Bushies”. However, for some, this term carries apartheid connotations, is considered derogatory, and lacks any substance.
 
Pharmacy’s Service Learning in Pharmacy (SLiP) Programme Serves Community

It is the start of the university academic year, and first-year university students, including pharmacy students, are keen to find their feet. Soon, they will be immersed in a culture of community engagement.
 
 
 
UWC Hosts UN Commissioners Investigating Violence in Gaza

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) continues to foster dialogue on crucial issues facing South Africa and the world. UWC’s Centre for Humanities Research (CHR) hosted a panel discussion with the Commissioners heading up the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel.
 
UWC launches Chair in Entrepreneurship

The University of the Western Cape continues to make an impact in research, innovation and in communities by connecting possibilities. UWC has officially launched its Chair in Entrepreneurship in Higher Education, made possible by the Sibusiso Bengu Development Grant facilitated by the Department of Higher Education and Training. Minister Blade Nzimande delivered the keynote address at the launch
