UWC Strengthens Global Ties At Trilateral Meeting, Honours 40-Year Missouri Partnership
The University of the Western Cape (UWC) hosted Rectorate delegations from the University of Missouri System (UM System) and Ghent University to celebrate their academic partnerships and chart new directions for the enduring international collaborations that have spanned 40 and 30 years, respectively.
 
 
 
 
Nearly One In Five Child Deaths Linked To Poor Growth

A major global study co-authored by a researcher from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) has found that poor growth in early childhood continues to claim hundreds of thousands of young lives each year, highlighting the persistent toll of child undernutrition despite decades of global efforts to address it.
 
 
UWC Students Lead TB Awareness In Klipheuwel

Situated just 15km from Durbanville, Klipheuwel is home to around 2 300 residents who have built a community against the odds. Driving down the dusty road lined with shacks, their makeshift walls patched with green, blue and black shadecloth, you glimpse everyday life here. Women call on young men to help carry water from communal taps, while washing clothing in large buckets along the roadside. Chickens peck in the dirt for scraps.
 
 
 
UWC Academic Fighting For Healthier Food Futures

Call her the food police, because fighting for consumers' right to be fully informed about the unhealthy ingredients in the food they eat is among the topics that drive her. The work of Dr Tamryn Frank, a newly-appointed academic in the School of Public Health at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), spans rural communities, supermarket shelves, social media feeds, and university campuses - all towards her goal of making healthy choices easier, more affordable, and more accessible for the public.
