UWC Ranked 7th in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2026 World University Rankings
The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has reaffirmed its position as one of the leading universities in the African higher education landscape. The recently released 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings has ranked UWC in 7th position in Sub-Saharan Africa, thus maintaining its place among the top 10 institutions.

UWC Academic Takes Third Place In International Matariki 3MT Competition
University of the Western Cape (UWC) researcher, Eurinah Koeras, from the Department of Sport, Recreation and Exercise Science, has placed third in the 2025 Matariki Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. The international event challenges doctoral candidates to present their research in just three minutes to a non-specialist audience, highlighting the importance of clear and engaging science communication. |

New Exhibition Gives A Voice To The LGBTQIA+ Community
To mark the 30th anniversary of the Department of Women and Gender Studies, a Photovoice exhibition was unveiled in the atrium of the Library. The exhibition, which showcases the experiences of the department’s third-year students on and around campus, specifically focusing on those who identify as LGBTQIA+, aims to challenge stereotypes. |
