SERVICES REQUIRED
UWC invites suitably skilled, experienced and properly resourced General Building (GB) Contractors, with a track record of a minimum of 5 years as a Building Contractor, who are based within the City of Cape Town Metropolitan, Drakenstein and Stellenbosch local municipality area and registered with a CIDB grading of 7GB or higher, to apply for the Construction of a new double-story extension featuring a lift, chemical stores, teaching spaces, and associated services as well as Alterations and Refurbishment of the School of Pharmacy Building at the University of the Western Cape.
CONSTRUCTION PERIOD
The timeline for construction is eleven (11) months excluding building holidays.
MANDATORY CRITERIA
To be considered for this tender, Service Providers must comply with ALL the criteria listed below and submit ALL relevant information and/or copies of documents as required:

Proof of an active, fully established, resourced and operational business premises, including the required equipment inventory relating to general building construction within the City of Cape Town Metropolitan, Stellenbosch or Drakenstein local Municipal Area. (These may include but not limited to Building Lease, Property Deeds, Municipal Accounts in the name of the business, Motor Vehicle Registration in company name etc.) Criteria to be evaluated include but not limited to:

Signage relating to Construction business |
NB! UWC will physically verify the information supplied and any companies who do not meet the requirements will be eliminated |

Valid Tax Clearance Certificate /PIN |

Valid BBBEE certificate or QSE affidavit applicable, relevant to the Building Industry |

Latest Financial Statements for the past 2 years not older than 2023 |

Project Organogram (to include subcontractors etc.) |
| • |
Indicative Project Programme with critical path – based on a construction period of 11 months excluding building holidays |

CVs of Key personnel assigned to this tender in relation to the project organogram, viz, contracts manager, site agent, site foreman, health and safety officer and quantity surveyor. |

The schedule and profile or CVs of sub-contractor’s (such as electrical, electronic, plumbing and drainage, ventilation installer) – if in house kindly specify and provide CV’s and proof of industry registration and qualifications. |

Provide valid industry specific certifications with affiliations for the below:

Electrical: ECB, wireman’s certificate, Registered Master Installation Electrician, ELPA (Lightning Protection/Earthing) |
| • |
HVAC: Accredited HVAC&R installer - The South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC) (Refrigerant gas license) |

Plumbing: PIRB registered licensed plumber |

Provide valid Contractors All Risk Insurance including Public Liability Insurance with a Minimum value of R20m) |

Provide a list of a minimum of five (5) contactable references from independent third-party clients of the Bidder for projects of comparable scale, nature, and complexity completed within the last seven (7) years. Eligible reference projects must encompass general structural repairs, renovations of existing facilities, and electrical works, fire installation and ventilation installation. The reference list to include name, contact details, email address, value of contract and period of contract. |

NB: Tender submissions that do not meet the mandatory requirements will be eliminated from the tender process and will not advance to the next stage of assessment. No points allocated to this stage.
