Biography

Prof Nico Schutte holds the position of Full Professor and has previously served as the Executive Head of Corporate Education (CE) at Regenesys Business School. He had the responsibility of offering strategic and innovative guidance in the development, execution, and ongoing enhancement of the areas/programs under the CE division.

In addition, he holds two doctoral degrees. He earned his first PhD in Public Administration from Tshwane University of Technology. During his studies, he created a strategic leadership competency model specifically designed for government executives. Also, he offers support to government officials in ministries and other state administrative bodies during the policy-making process. This includes helping them prepare well-crafted proposals (materials and acts) that meet high standards and are suitable for review and approval by the Government. He also provides practical guidance and advice at various stages of the policy-making process, based on thorough information and analysis. Assist government bodies in comprehending the processes of policy formulation and policy analysis. He obtained his second PhD in Industrial Psychology from North-West University.

During his studies, he focused on developing a professional competency framework specifically for HR practitioners. On 12 April 2018, Professor Schutte gave his inaugural address to acknowledge his promotion to the rank of full Professor at North-West University. The lecture was titled "HR 5.0 - From Digitisation to Digitalisation" and had a primary emphasis on advancing people management throughout the fourth industrial revolution (4IR).
Prof Schutte has worked in academia for over 25 years, holding executive and senior leadership roles in both public and private higher education institutions. Some of his positions include HOD at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Namibia, Deputy Dean of Research at the former Southern Business School (now STADIO), Director of the Unit for Continuing Education at North-West University, Executive Manager of short learning programmes at the School of Business Leadership He is a certified StrengthsFinder coach, having completed his training through Ohio State University.
He is also a certified Creative Problem-Solving coach, having completed his training at Buffalo University. Additionally, he has received training as a Tavistock facilitator and is a member of COMENSA. 

Professor Schutte’s primary research interests and areas of specialisation evolve around Talent Management, Strategic Leadership, Public Administration, Local Government, Human Resource Management, Knowledge Management, Online learning, Organisational Behavior, and Nero Psychology and practice. He published extensively in the fields mentioned above.
In addition, he also supervised a significant number of master’s and PhD students in contemporary issues covering his research field of interest. He received various prestigious awards for his research, such as Most productive senior researcher of the Faculty at North-West University (2014) and multiple awards from the SA Board for People Practices, such as Best Publication in the field of HR research (2015; 2018), and Best Human Resources consulting product (2018) for his community outreach interventions such as Giftback.  

Prof Schutte possesses extensive expertise in leadership, team, and curriculum development, and effectively led the installation of an Online learning content management system at the Mafikeng Campus of North-West University. He continues to serve as an advisor to multiple higher education institutions and professional bodies, focusing on advancing knowledge and promoting the effective use of digital learning platforms. Prof Schutte has taught a wide range of courses, including executive leadership and numerous post-graduate and undergraduate degrees. With a background as the Director of Continuing Education and life-long learning, he possesses significant expertise in creating and implementing concise educational programmes that address the immediate training requirements of a constantly evolving job market. Prof Schutte has served as a guest speaker and educator in multiple countries including The Netherlands, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Kenya.

Biography

Dr Jürgen Becker specialises in the building of structural and mathematical models that can be applied to diagnose and inform human capital, structural, and financial solutions in the workplace. He specialises in contemporary multivariate statistical approaches including Item Response Theory and Structural Equation Modelling.
  
Jürgen was previously employed as senior statistician at the Statistical Consultancy Services of the University of Johannesburg, and has steadily contributed to the scientific investigation of risk models in unsecured lending, computer adaptive tests and sample based assessment in selection. He teaches psychometrics and organisational development and serves as ad-hoc reviewer to numerous peer reviewed journals.

Biography

Dr Marieta du Plessis is a Registered Industrial Psychologist with more than ten years of consulting and educational experience. With a passion for helping individuals, teams and businesses grow, she has dedicated her time to creating healthy Human Resource practices in organisations and facilitated numerous hours of individual discussions with clients to assist them in reaching their next level of success. 

Her specific areas of teaching and research are Organisational Behaviour and Psychology, Leadership, Positive Organisational Scholarship and Occupational Counselling. She has also successfully supervised six Master's dissertations in Industrial Psychology.

In 2014, Marieta was awarded a Thuthuka research grant by the National Research Foundation of South Africa for the completion of her PhD. Masters in Human Resource Management (Stellenbosch University) - The relationship between servant leadership, emotional intelligence, trust in the immediate supervisor and meaning in life: An exploratory study Supervisor: Dr Z Dannhauser.

Marieta’s area of interest falls within the ambit of positive psychology with a focus on positive organisational psychology.

She is interested in improving the wellbeing and flourishing of individuals in organisations and the antecedents of such wellbeing.

Biography

She is currently a Senior Lecturer and is also a registered Industrial Psychologist (with the Health Professions Council of South Africa). She has presented at national and international conferences. She teaches Ergonomics at 3rd year level and Practical Training at Honours level. She is also the Tutorial Co-ordinator for the undergraduate academic programme. Part of this responsibility involves recruiting prospective tutorial assistants, compiling and monitoring the tutorial budget, oversee administrative aspects related to the programme and providing a supportive role to the tutorial assistants.

She has a wide range of interests amongst others, assessments and career.  She has supervised a number of masters’ theses and has also supervised psychometry interns as well as Industrial Psychologist interns.

Biography

Mr. Oliver obtained his M Com (Industrial Psychology) in 2012 from the University of the Western Cape. He joined the University of the Western Cape in 1998 and is presently a lecturer in the Department of Industrial Psychology.

He currently lectures to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Industrial Psychology with his specialist areas of interest being Psychometrics and Employment (Labour) Relations. Mr. Oliver’s master’s thesis on the Impact of job satisfaction and organisational commitment on intention to leave amongst non-academic staff also highlights his research areas of interest. A further research area and possible PhD topic is that of Re-humanising the workplace.
