Dullah Omar Institute (DOI)

The Dullah Omar Institute is a unit of the Faculty of Law. It conducts research and advocacy and offers postgraduate programmes in constitutional law, governance and human rights. It was founded as the Community Law Centre in 1990 by the late Adv. Dullah Omar.

The Institute focuses on children’s rights, socio-economic rights, multilevel government, law and technology, criminal justice, and woman’s rights. It houses 40 staff and postgraduate student members, and includes the South African Research Chair on Multilevel Government, Law and Policy.
