Department of Educational Psychology
Postgraduate

Apart from contributing to preparing educators for schools, the Department of Educational Psychology offers postgraduate programmes that are aimed at expanding the knowledge and skills of students in the field of Educational Psychology and Inclusive Education.

The BEd Honours in Educational Psychology programme consists of eight (8) modules. Please note: that the Honours programme does not lead to registration as a counsellor with the Health Professions Council.

The Masters and Doctoral programmes are research-based (full thesis) programmes. Educational Psychology staff and postgraduate students concentrate their research efforts on producing knowledge relevant to a better understanding of teaching and learning, within a transforming and inclusive context, by embarking on research studies and publications related to whole school development, inclusive education and school-community partnerships for improving teaching and learning.

The Masters (Educational Psychology) does not lead to certification or registration as a registered educational psychologist with the HPCSA.
