Welcome to the Department of Geography, Environmental Studies and Tourism

The Department of Geography, Environmental Studies and Tourism is a dynamic teaching and research department with a wide range of expertise in human and physical geography, GIScience, environmental management, and tourism. The Department ranks proudly among the oldest and most established at UWC. Located in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Department provides students with insights into the key social and environmental issues of the day.  

The Department is proud of its multicultural and multinational group of students and academic staff whose teaching, research, and publications are internationally recognised. The Department offers undergraduate degrees (BA) with majors in 1) Geography and Environmental Studies; and 2) Tourism as well as BA (Hons), MA and PhD degrees.
