POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (PGDBA) (1626)

ADMISSION
Unless the Senate decides otherwise, a student shall be required to meet one of the following criteria to be enrolled for the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration – PGDip (Business Administration):

• A Bachelor’s degree in Management or Finance or a cognate subject or equivalent; or
• Advanced Diploma in Management or Advanced Diploma in Management (Finance); or
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) (RPL students are limited to a certain percentage of the total enrolment for the programme). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) website
• The final average obtained for the exit-level modules or ADM qualification must be 60% and above.

DURATION
Unless Senate decides otherwise, the duration of the programme shall extend over one year full-time and two years part-time.

ADMISSION

• A Bachelor’s degree majoring in Management or equivalent; or
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) (RPL students are limited to a certain percentage of the total enrolment for the programme).
• The final average obtained for the management exit-level modules must be 60% and above.

MCOM (MANAGEMENT) (1830)

ADMISSION
Unless the Senate decides otherwise, an applicant shall be required to meet one of the following criteria to be enrolled for the Master of Commerce Degree in Management – MCom (Management):
 

• A 60% pass in an Honours Degree in Management, Business Administration, or related field; or
• A 60% pass in a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration; or
• An applicant wishing to make claims of equivalence shall apply through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

MCOM (1801) – Full Thesis

Stream: Management
 

ADMISSION
An applicant must hold a postgraduate diploma, honours, or an equivalent qualification, preferably in Management. Evidence of having completed a research methodology module will be expected.

The final average obtained for the degree must be 60% and above.
   
SELECTION
Admission is subject to a selection process.

DURATION
Students may complete the master's within 1 year and the duration of the programme can be extended over three years full-time/part-time.

However, the department expects a full-time student to complete within 2 years and a part-time student to complete within 3 years.

PhD (1921)

Stream: Management
 

ADMISSION

• An applicant must hold a master’s degree, preferably in Management.
• Structured masters qualification: must have ideally included a 50% research component.

Admission is subject to a selection process.

DURATION
Although the duration of the programme can be extended to five years, the minimum period for full-time registered students is 2 years, and the maximum time for both full-time and part-time students is 5 years.

NOTE: The certification of documents must not be older than six months at the time of submission or application.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

The following supporting documents are required for an application to be successfully processed for the ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT (1612/1613), POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (1626), and BACHELOR OF COMMERCE HONOURS IN MANAGEMENT (1731) programmes:

• Certified South African ID document or passport copy (for international applicants)
• Certified degree or diploma certificate copies or a valid letter of completion
• Complete official academic transcripts or student records (on university or college letterhead).
• South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) evaluation certificate (for qualifications completed outside South Africa).
• Proof of English Language Proficiency (applicable to an international applicant who has not completed three years of tertiary education in English) through the following standards:

- paper score of 550 or computer score of 213 in Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- band 6 International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- passed the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)
- passed the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
- passed the Cambridge Business English Certificate 3

MASTER OF COMMERCE IN MANAGEMENT (1830)
