The IPSS is undertaking several high profile and funded research projects that are intended to build each of the sectors in post-schooling.
Current large research projects include a DHET five-year TVET Research Programme which has 11 partner institutions, with the IPSS as lead partner; the Carnegie funded Mapping Higher Education Policies in Africa (MHEPA); and the DHET-EU funded college lecturer qualifications development project which is supporting research in both TVET and Adult Education.
In recognition of its work in TVET, the IPSS hosts the first NRF SARChI Chair in TVET Studies, which its Director Prof. Joy Papier currently holds.
Another first is the establishment in 2017 of a new academic Journal of Vocational, Adult and Continuing Education and Training (JOVACET) which promises to be a leading publication in SA and on the African Continent. Click the following link to read more: www.jovacet.ac.za.
