Biography

Marié Young, PhD, are qualified in the field of Sport and Recreation Management She is working as Head of Department and lecturer at the Department of Sport, Recreation and Exercise Science at the University of the Western Cape. She is involved in various community based research interventions with inter-professional partners from national and international tertiary institutions. These projects are related to health and wellness promotion in work and community settings as well as training of recreational workers to develop community based recreational programs. She is further exploring therapeutic recreation as a developing profession in South Africa. She deems capacity building among youth as important. She has written articles in the fields of sport and recreation.
