THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMMES ARE OFFERED

All the Honours programmes include a research component.

B.A. OR B.Sc HONOURS DEGREE IN BIOKINETICS
Students with an interest in sports science and exercise rehabilitation are encouraged to apply. A limited number of students can be admitted to this programme.  

B.A. HONOURS DEGREE IN SPORT AND RECREATION MANAGEMENT (NOT BEING OFFERED 2019 ONWARDS)
Students with an interest in management of sport and recreation events, programmes and facilities are encouraged to apply. This programme is accessible to RPL candidates.

B.A. HONOURS DEGREE IN SPORT, RECREATION AND EXERCISE SCIENCE
Students interested in obtaining a broader understanding of the application of various disciplines within the domain of sport, recreation and exercise science are encouraged to apply. 

Those interested in this degree can choose between two streams of study:
  1. Conditioning Coaching - students with an interest in the primary goal of training athletes and teams to maximise their full potential
  2. Community and Health Development ??(NUMBERS PERMITTING) Students with an interest in promoting community health and giving communities ways to maintain healthy lifestyles.
M.A. / M.Sc BIOKINETICS (Full thesis)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMMES INCLUDE:

Degree in SRES (Sport, Recreation and Exercise Science) or equivalent thereof, with a minimum pass of 60%. Closing date for applications is as indicated on the home page for all PG studies.

Students interested in obtaining a broader understanding of the application of various disciplines within the domain of sport, recreation and exercise science are encouraged to apply.

Those interested in this degree can choose between two streams of study:

What Is Biokinetics?
Biokinetics is a medically recognised profession involving the management of effective exercise habits in order to improve one’s physical status and quality of life. A biokineticist achieves this through an individualised assessment and exercise prescription in the dual context of clinical pathology (acute and chronic) and performance enhancement. A biokineticist is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa

What does a biokineticist do?
A biokineticist improves an individual’s physical status and quality of life through individualised assessment and exercise prescription in the dual context of clinical pathology (acute and chronic) and performance enhancement.
